What's up at school?
First Grade
First Grade concluded our first theme – Animals Tame and Wild with a trip to the Zoo. It was a beautiful day! We began our second theme – Communities. We have been reading about the people and places where we live. We were able to connect Officer Amber Conrad and her K9’s visit (for Red Ribbon Week) to our theme. We loved watching Timmy (the dog) sniff for drugs! We have been practicing time to the hour and are just beginning to tell time to the half hour. We are also continuing to practice our addition facts. We are learning how to read and code long vowel patterns including the a consonant e. We also identified how to code two syllable words. We are using our phonics strategies along our book of the month strategies to practice independent reading and fluency. 1A had the opportunity to prepare the liturgy on Wednesday, Oct. 26 and what a wonderful job they did! 1B is preparing the liturgy for Wednesday, Nov. 9 and will like wise do a wonderful job! |
