The second graders are learning about the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  They understand that we can celebrate we have a forgiving Father, and He is always ready to shower us with His mercy and grace. 

The students are learning to use clear and interesting ideas in their writing, and they are learning to organize their ideas into reflections for their journal.  They have written about a walk in the forest and what they dream about becoming when they grow up. 

The students are learning to use questioning strategies in reading and trying to broaden the types of books they pick out to read.  This month they will read stories about Thanksgiving, concentrating on the origins and customs of the holiday.  They will learn about Native Americans and pilgrims and the importance of working together in a community to thrive.
