Fourth Grade
We are working on a project
called “Letters Home” in reading. This goes along with the
writing trait organization and a story from our readers.
In math we are beginning decimals.
In English
we will begin nouns.
In Science,
4th graders solved their environmental unit
mystery: “What polluted Tacuma Lake?’’ The students,
through many experiments using the scientific method,
discovered that the main source of pollution was pesticide.
The students were perplexed until they discovered the
important detail of ground water.
In Religion, the students are using the questioning
strategy. They each wrote a question that they would like
to ask Jesus. Each day we choose a question and an answer
thinking as Jesus may …What would Jesus say? The students
will also create images of Jesus.
In reading and writing, we are writing our photo
narratives. This mixes personal experiences of a vacation
with facts about the particular places, sights, or people.
St. Joseph students are well traveled. This photo
narrative is modeled after the story Letters Home From
Yosemite.
We visited Frankfort on the 4th and it was just
amazing and packed with learning. Katie Stine and Joe
Fischer even gave some of our presentations. In social
studies we are working on a project called “Create Your Own
Island” in which students learn geography terms
