Junior High

Religion
Grade 8

Grade 8 Religion  - The Boo Jay Haunted Trail – the 8th grade’s response to their experiences at Insights – was a great success.  The 8th graders all pitched in and worked very hard to create a spooky, scary trail on Friday, Oct 28.  We had numerous recess and afterschool meetings and preparations.  Most of the students stayed after school on Friday to set up.  Students donated drinks and homemade desserts for the concessions booth and prepared a dozen different crafts for customers to make if desired.  The suggested donation for this was a canned or boxed food for Be Concerned.  The Trail began at 6:00pm and ended at 9:00pm.  Other than the cold weather, there seemed to be few difficulties.  The parish again was extremely generous – we collected 447 cans/boxes of food which were delivered to Be Concerned on Thursday, November 3, by six students, a parent, and a teacher.  We also collected $1145.23 from admissions and concessions which will be given to IHN here at St. Joe’s.  The 8th graders are most grateful to Mrs. Holzmacher for her enthusiastic support of this project and her help with admissions, Mrs. Suzy Kahmann, for sharing her incredible talent in helping create the trail and some of the props, Ms. Gerner, for her help in scripting the scenes, Ms Roelker for supervising the tour guides, Mr. Young for his supervision and acting skills, and Mrs. Listerman for supervising the craft table.

In class the 8th graders are finishing up their Pro-Life essays and will begin working on their World Hunger Powerpoints in preparation for the Hunger Banquet on Thursday, November 17, which dramatizes the unequal distribution of resources and wealth in the world.
