Severe Weather Procedure
If St. Joseph School delays or closes because of bad weather, radio and television stations
will announce St. Joseph, Cold Spring by name. But because there are so many
"St. Joseph Schools" in the tri-state, that may result in some confusion and
omissions. Some stations, especially the T.V., do carry it. I get the
information to the stations before 6:00 and rely on them to put it on the air as
soon as possible.
In order to help in this situation we are going to also
post this information on St. Joseph web site. The web page is http://www.stjosephcoldspring.com
The closing or delay information will appear at the top of
the page. A word to the wise -
technology does not always work. We will try out best to make this a source of
information as early as possible.
We will also use our c-Notify and so you will be getting a
phone call as well as an e-mail. Please listen to the
message rather than calling the school when you see the
telephone number of the school.
Also, we will have the message on the
answering machine at school. I will try to get that on by 6:30. I have to come
to school to do it, and before that, I will be calling the stations and others
to get information out as early as possible.
This will give you three sources of school
closing or delays - that is if everything works as we hope.
When we make the decision regarding school closings there
are many items to take into consideration. Our primary
concern is the safety of our students, and I know, that is
your concern also.
Please note the following:
-
It will be announced on radio, TV stations,
school answering machine, be posted on our website
and you will be notified by way of c-Notify.
-
The announcement on the radio and TV will
state the following: "St. Joseph, Cold Spring is closed" or "St. Joseph, Cold
Spring is on an hour delay."
-
When we are on an hour delay that means that we will
have private transortation.
- The school is open at 7:30 and I will be
present, if you need to drop off your children early.
